just presenting a possible reason why what paskal proposed in his post does not work well in IV.......its not a question of whether phone calls are important or not....its a question of making a significant number of forum stakeholders (and not 1-2%) get to act on any initiative......fund raising/ calling efforts etc....
i genuinely believe that the core members go above and beyond whats expected to do what they are doing for IV - its truly remarkable...they all have busy lives and it takes great conviction and dedication to take the time out and do this...but why are the people still not responding despite the obvious pitfalls of not acting on GC related initiatives.......
maybe its lethargy, inaction, indifference etc.......but we should be open to considering that just maybe, a vast and silent majority of IVians do not feel a sense of representation in the organization and hence do not react as enthusiastically as they should........legitimacy among the constituents often comes with representation
why did most kingdoms around the world perish and give way to democracies......bcos the kings taxed the public based on their whims and fancies......elected govts may do the same but people still pay up and if they dont agree - they know they have a choice at the next elections.......
and no, i dont deserve to be the CEO - neither do i have a performance track record nor credibility here......should not stop me from voicing a contrarion view though

Nobody here exactly knows why the participation rate is less. Some of reasons could be:
i have my EAD, thats more than enough for me
i am in my I-140 or PERM stage, why should i bother now?
i don't think GC process is a big problem, i am sure i will get one day
i don't care. I will sit and watch others do this for me
I will not blame the core members. I understand their Vision and it aligns with mine. How do you enforce a vision in IV community when the participation is less?
How can any action survive with 100-200 members participation? look at numbersusa and learn from their strengths.
Having said that, i have a few suggestions though. Lets talk to our friends and relativies, understand their concerns/issues and communicate IV's vision to them in a better way and get them to participate.
Lets set some intermediate goals to track our progress.

Did you consider using "atlas america" and other bunch of travel insurance that advertise themselves as PPO? I am wondering if anyone has expericence dealing with them regarding claims. I purchased that recently for my parents since it had 100/0 or 90/10 coverage.
Anyone has experience going to hospital using these insurance?
Hi I am a physician in Oregon and my parents are visiting too in July. I called Kaiser regarding this, and this is what I was told.
1. they can get insurance since Kaiser does not need an SSN for the application.
2. Every Plan has a deductible $, an out of pocket maximum $, and a co-insurance $ amount.
So,
Plan A: Deductible 2500, Co-insurance 22% of all inpatient cost upto max of $22,000.
Plan B: Deductible 6000, Co-insurance 50% of all inpatient cost upto max of $50,000.
Essentially none of these plans are a 'good deal'. But remember its easier to pay back a loan of 22k - 50k than to pay back 100-200k.
Also since Kaiser is an HMO, and has its own facilities in the west coast and Hawaii, 'accepting insurance' is not a problem.

I realize that there is no point in telling you guys anything. When you don't have an open mind, you can not accept the facts. It's like banging your heads against steel wall. When you are not even ready to diagnose the disease, there is little hope you will be able to cure it. Denial is a beautiful thing.

Anyways no harm trying any and all legal ways !
You are right.. I got a call this Wednesday from the Presidents office of initiating an inquiry on my case and again a repeated call from them on Friday that FBI Name Check has been cleared. I forgot to mention this detail in my excitement.

If possible taken an infopass appt. They might be able to tell you the correct status of your appln.
BTW: Does any one know how long does it take for a decision to be made on an application once it has been pre-adjudicated and assiged to an IO?:confused:

3) Fewer percentage of H1-B s have overstayed their visas than the percentage of senators who have been guilty of taking bribes, or the percentage of journalists who have misrepresented facts!

If you are filing on 1st July then you shud not leave US till you get your receipt notice. With the current processing timelines it is very unlikely that you will get your receipt notice b4 20th July. So hold on till 14th July for next visa-bulletin. If dates are current even in Aug, which is most likely the case, then do your filing in August, else return back b4 July end and file 485

Thank you. Please encourage everyone to sign too. H1 visas have a fee to retrain, educate students in math and science. It amounts to billions of dollars that is used for educating students here. I think we need to educate him and not put up with whatever he feels can say and untrue. Besides we have all contributed and have not strained any support system like social security, medicare.

Hey, sorry for your situation, I can only imagine, I cant even manage one here..:rolleyes:
pun aside, here is my 2 cents
1) did you talk to your lawyer?
2) if # 1 is ruled out or of no use, I would personally draft a letter showing that she is travellling right now and with kids and it would be extremely difficult to get her TB test done as you cant get it done by that RFE due date. add some more stuff telling your situation as to why she cant come right away due to the stuff you mentioned (kids/babies ). IAm sure you WILL get it exteneded.
